Hermès Offers a Second Life to your Scarves - HermèsMatic

Hermès launches the "bain de jouvence" ("fountain of youth") campaign for its silk scarves. Free pop up mini-laundries will be available in different cities. They will restaure all the splendor to "old" silk scarves.

Over the years, Hermès knew how to enroll silk scarves in its identity. The brand intensifies this process by launching the "fountain of youth" operation.

Objective, to provide a second life to silk scarves aged by time. Washing machines in the brand’s signature orange color give scarves a blue or pink rinse, and a dryer restores them to their original softness. The process takes 48 hours and is free of charge for customers.

A way to give more visibility to Hermes and disseminate its symbol of the silk square to the youngest.

An operation that will support the sustainability of the product intended "to be transmitted, to pass from hand to hand, from mother to daughter," Hermes said in a statement.

The House began as a small tour around Europe. Travelling from city to city, Hermès will provide a mini-laundry free of charge.

The first "rejuvenating" Hermès will take place initially in Strasbourg from 7 to 15 October 2016. A 70sqm space will be available in the heart of the city to host HermèsMatic.

Each Hermès pop-up will also feature a store selling scarves in signature patterns drawn from the house’s archives, such as Brides de Gala and Quadrige, and dip-dyed in nine different shades in the Hermès silk workshops in Lyon, southern France.

The luxury house will also stopover in Paris during the first half of 2017 and in Bordeaux in November 2016. The free event will also take place beyond the French borders in Munich and Amsterdam.

So you just have to wait until it reaches you city... Or travel to one of these with your scarves!

NYFW Inaugurates ‘See-Now-Buy-Immediately’ Shows, Completely Changing the Way we do High Fashion.

The New York Fashion Week opens the catwalk marathon with women´s fashion shows for spring-summer 2017 and reaches its end in Paris on the 5th of October. This edition, which begun this Wednesday, September 7th, to finish on Thursday, September 15th, will be also the stage for a great agitation / changing period for the fashion world.

There is already a great buz around the shows "see now buy now" offering collections immediately available for purchase after the show. Tested last February by a few brands like Rebecca Minkoff, this new formula launched in New York should get into the next main Fashion Weeks Shows around the World.

In the ranks, Tom Ford, who operates his big return to New York scene after several seasons absence. The American designer, who was one of the first  to announce last year his conversion to "see-now-buy-immediately" will inaugurate this new selling arrangement at the opening of Fashion Week, Wednesday, with a mixed show moman / man reserved to a selection of elected lucky ones, to which he will reveal his season wardrobe, ie the winter, which will be available for sale right after.

Adept he also, Tommy Hilfiger who will also adhere to this revolution, will host the September 9 at night its very first open show to the public and broadcast live on site Tommy.com, along which is shown, among others, the capsule collection "TommyXGigi" co-designed with Gigi Hadid.

Diane von Furstenberg will engage on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th. The brand will reveal the first collection signed by the new creative director Jonathan Saunders, and the items will be also ready to be sold. Rebecca Minkoff will relapse, in turn, with the formula "see now buy now" Saturday at noon.

Google will follow this movement, which wants to bring more and more consumers of the creators, via new search modes that allow Internet users to more easily find information about all the events of the Week New York Fashion, where the images and provided content will be displayed by designers and other fashion operators live in spectacles.

In all, the New York calendar displays this season a more compact program, as highlighted by the Council of American Fashion Designers (CFDA) in a statement. Since the latter took over the calendar of Fashion Week in 2014, the selection process was in fact hardened.

"In September 2014, the program had 394 shows and presentations. Last year, 192 designers obtained their entry, while, on the calendar this year include 151 shows and presentations," says the Council.

It is worth noting in particular the return to the maison Thakoon to the passarelles, founded in New York in 2004 by Thai-American designer Thakoon Panichgul.

Other new names integrating Big Apple´s passarelles on this edition: Akris, leaving Paris, where the house presented the collections since 2004, for this season. The Swiss label, directed by Albert Kriemler, will receive the September 7th, in New York, the Artistry of Fashion Award granted by the Couture Council of the Museum of Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). The fashion show will take place on the 9th.

Great premiers also for Sies Marjan, the new New York-based brand launched last winter by Sander Lak, former creative director of Dries Van Noten. The young label, which is spoken increasingly in fashion scenes and benefits from the 'fashion stylist' Lotta Volkova´s support, will "catwalk" on Sunday, September 11th.

The rest of the week will be dominated by tenors and lesser known brands. In the program, among others, Jason Wu, Lacoste, Alexander Wang, Victoria Beckham, DKNY directed by Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow, Opening Ceremony, The Row, Jeremy Scott, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Oscar de la Renta, whose collection will be drawn by an internal team after the departure of Peter Copping, awaiting the arrival of the new creative directors Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim in February.

Of course one can count on Thom Browne, Tory Burch, Coach, Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren with two shows on the night of Wednesday, September 14th. Marc Jacobs will close the week, on Thursday 15, along with Calvin Klein, whose collection will be shown in a meeting format, awaiting the collection by Raf Simons prepared for the next winter.

Goodbye Sonia Rykiel...

"My mother died tonight in Paris, at her house, at 5 am, as a result of Parkinson's disease," the disease that she had evoked in a book in 2012, "Do not forget that I'm fighting," said Nathalie Rykiel, who is also a woman of fashion industry. Rykiel died on August 22 at 86 years old after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

The inventor of the "démodé", born Sonia Flis in Paris on May 25, 1930, of a French father and a Romanian mother, started her career as an exhibitor of goods in 1948. She founded, in May 1968, the brand Sonia Rykiel.

She played her own role in the Robert Altman film "Ready to Wear", shot during the fashion week in Paris in Spring 1994.

The ‘Queen of knitwear’ is laid to rest at Paris’s Montparnasse Cemetery. RIP
